RoboFever: Facts and Questions about 2011 Election Theft

I’ve got a bad case of RoboCon Fever. And the only known cure is plenty of Sixth Estate. Read his summary of events, filled with facts, and come back if you’re not up to speed. It’s only the greatest national mystery, underway for you to solve it before the RCMP get done.

An inquiry would be a good eventual outcome of the biggest political scandal to rock Canadian politics since Adscam. Well, we’ll see, I guess, eh.

It’s incredibly frustrating to have so much information (even the recording), yet not enough investigative resources or hours in the day to sort through everything required to get to the bottom of this massive fraud. Part of the problem is that it’s a crime amplified through technology, creating potentially thousands of human reports of injustice from potentially one criminal actor, Pierre Poutine of Separatist Street, in Quebec.

There is a scheme in this mess somewhere. I just wish I could see what it was. – Blogger known as the Sixth Estate

Jim Harris, former leader of the Green Party, has some sobering thoughts on how the media is portraying this massively harmful crime so far, and how they didn’t deal with the Conservatives who overspent by $1,300,000 on the 2006 election, only to plead guilty 5 years later and get a slap on the wrists ($52,000 fine). If you could spend $1.3M of other peoples money, to gain access to the most powerful political office in the country, and only have to pay $52,000 later (no jail time, no mandatory minimum), wouldn’t that be a powerful incentive to become corrupt?

Some questions with answers I (and maybe even the RCMP) do not have yet:

How many misdirection phonecalls across the country were customized for the riding (specific geographic location for the non-poll, or “Con-poll”). Oh to have the potential resources of the RCMP right now… (pre-C-30 is more than sufficient).

It sounds like the burner cellphone of Poutine was only used more than 30 times http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/02/29/robocalls-andrew-coyne
There may be another phone, or IP number to trace if more customized misdirection calls were robodialed.

And how were the phone numbers taken from the voter list database, and given to RackNine and other firms? There are more opportunities for RCMP to trace the source. Pierre Poutine has logged into the Conservative database prior to May 3rd, 2011, this must be true.

Based on what I do know, there was a specific fake/wrong polling call (two actually) made to a voter in Regina Lumsden Lake Centre, and a different fake poll in the robocall to Guelph. How were multiple recordings provided to RackNine and other robodialiers, all from Poutine’s phone, or did they slip up? http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/02/29/robocalls-andrew-coyne (Regina Lumsden calls are not specified as robo or human, only that the destination was different from the place in Guelph, St. Angela was given as the poll.)

Based on RackNine pricing, if we assume 70 ridings were called, at 10,000 people each, that’s only about $13300 to steal an election.

So:
The NDP, Greens, and Liberals could fund robocalls next week for that pricing to inform Canadians more quickly about the scandal!
Example:
“During the last federal election, many Canadians got recorded phone calls with fraudulent information. The CPC voter database was used to dial opposition party voters, and illegally redirect them away from polling stations. Contact your Member of Parliament if this conspiracy to rig Canada’s elections concerns you. Sorry to bother you, eh?”

  1. The only fly in the ointment with this scandal is the fact that Tory voters were also “targeted”. Did the conspirators have enough sense to add a number of CPC supporters to their efforts in order to throw the dogs off the trail? THAT will be the key to pinning this on the Tories. Without it, and without being able to track down Pierre Poutin, I’m afraid this will be a non-conspiracy in short order. Whoever was leading this charge, was a lot smarter than just a few call center employees or a campaign worker in Guelph.
