Green Party of Sask Leadership Meeting

I attended the Green Party of Saskatchewan’s leadership meeting on Sunday, at the Glencairn Rec. Centre. There were probably close to 50 people in attendance, with others voting by email.

The results were Victor Lau winning 60% of the more than 100 votes. Cross received only 3 votes, which was not surprising as he’d only become a member of the party recently, and had many negative appearances in media the past decade.

Lau spoke to the need for the Green Party to provide real opposition to the governing Sask Party.

  1. If the Greens are to be taken seriously they are going to need to learn to not attack fellow members publicly. You can disagree with fellow party members but it is hard to take a party seriously when they begin attacking each other publicly especially when it is those around Lau doing the attacking.

  2. Given your previous comments I would have assumed my comment would have been crystal clear. Why individuals who supported Lau continue to attack a former leadership candidate is beyond me.

    • I found your comment after my question.

Why? Because the public needs to know that those in the party who made the mistake of welcoming an unpopular candidate to the party do not represent the Greens, and people can be assured there will be better decision-making under real leadership.

      • Lau invited Cross to not only remain active within the party but to taken on serious advising positions within the party so if you want to blame others you will have to blame Lau to.

      • “I do not know much about said individual beyond the news reports”

And that’s possibly that actual extent of your knowledge about this all.

No doubt Victor asked him while Brendan was already a CANDIDATE. There’s no reason Brendan couldn’t work behind the scenes of any party, it’s a democracy and anyone can contribute to the process. Not everyone is suited to be a candidate though, being popular with voters is a minimum entrance requirement for that realm if the objective is to be elected.
