Northern Lights August 5 and 6th

Aurora in August

Nicole, Alvil, April, and I went a few minutes out of Regina on Dewdney Ave. last night, and got many photographs of the aurora from the massive solar storm that was hitting the planet’s magnetosphere and other above-ground interactive surfaces to produce a thrilling light show. The whispy lights were visible to the south of us too, well past 90 degrees from the northern horizon. We’re at about 54 degrees latitude in Regina.

We all saw at least one meteor too, one impressive one streaking right through the Big Dipper, missing a photograph of mine by mere seconds.

The temperature was beautiful, and there were only a few mosquitoes and three cars to bother us on the dark back road.
