A show once hosted by climate change denier Rex Murphy, was asking some okay questions of callers, while other questionable questions were called out by callers.
The last caller said rightly people shouldn’t be asked any more if they think climate change is happening, since scientists have long determined that it is. We don’t ask people if they think Lawn Darts are dangerous or if we should wear seat belts, anymore.
Does the north of Canada need improved transportation? Yes.
Is this need being exploited by those who want a pipeline to “tidewater”? Yes.
Will constructing it ensure Canada exceeds our promised and required emissions limit? Yes.
Will that limit being crossed result in the likely destruction of our society? Yes, confirmed the UN study by thousands of scientists.
So Minister Garneau, a guy smart enough to be an astronaut and a cabinet minister, thinks that installing the conditions for the destruction of our society is “an appealing concept” no doubt about it.
We’re not going to avoid this problem, we have to begin planning with the avoidance of more emissions long term, and the medium term too. What’s the use of building something that we have to tear down in the same generation, like a disposable sports stadium, or a mobile home?
And yet we have Agents of Destruction running Ontario and Saskatchewan, leaders who are hell bent on protecting the corporate elite who think it’s fine to build a pipeline for the tarsands. Hell, even our supposedly moderate Prime Minister and Climate Change Ministers both think that building a fucking pipeline in 2018, unusable in only half the time to a 2040 DEADline, isn’t wasting human labour, wasting time, and stranding assets underground.
If you aren’t developing a plan for yourself, and your place of work to be carbon neutral by 2030, you’re not helping enough. You’re failing yourself, and failing your children. Standing up to the useless, evil, cowards running our economies into the ground, would be a good starting point.
Sadly, yes. If you haven’t noticed, here’s something that should startle you into realizing every wing of it associates with Nazis, and talks about limiting immigration as a primary platform plank.
Goldy, a Nazi, is recently associated with Rebel Media. Rebel Media’s recent organizer is Andrew Scheer’s organizer now. These aren’t stretches, these are well known facts, and obvious to anyone who watches even a week of Canadian political news.
I feel badly for former Conservative supporters, because man of them are good people, and are not racists. However, past this point in history, continuing to participate in the CPC is to be on the wrong side of history.
That movie about the incapable political leadership from the future is actually already here, it won’t take 500 more years.
Ontario has their Harper-style Fake News now too https://twitter.com/OntarioNew…/status/1026965194243751936
Some of it is due to this bad man.
A host of the Ford videos, Lyndsey Vanstone, presents as a news reporter or anchor, and the Tweet says:
Buck-a-Beer is returning to Ontario! Remember the days of $1.00 beer in Ontario? Premier Ford does, and that’s why brewers across the province are being encouraged to take the ‘Buck-a-Beer Challenge.’
These are the depressingly stupid headlines from Canadian leadership, as reported by the very real news, National Observer:
Here are some other ideas for stupid political announcements:
- ‘Feds to offer a Jock At Every Party’
- ‘Trump to bring lead back to paint and gasoline so they work better’
Make Paint Taste Great Again
- ‘The Trudeau Liberals have conceded the 2019 election to the Scheer Conservatives, stating that Scheer does a much better job of gutting environmental policies, and keeping Bay St. happy, and they want to put Bay St.’s wellbeing over their partisan politics.’
- Ontario schools to replace music class with reruns of 1990s Much Music videos
Saskatchewan used to bustle, but soon it will be busless. It would literally rather provide mobility to tarsands than people.
“The announcement came 14 months after the Saskatchewan government shut down the money-losing Saskatchewan Transportation Co.”
That’s a bad perspective Star Phoenix. There is no expectation to make profit on public services. You wouldn’t say, “Shut down the money-losing Plains Hospital”, for example.
“Since Greyhound made their announcement, we simply can’t leave people stranded by the road,” Notley said in Medicine Hat on Wednesday.
“Rural Albertans, and rural Alberta communities, make an enormous contribution to our province and we owe it to them to protect the transportation options that they have.”
Randy Rainbow updated this song, and it’s genius. Really.
