You’ve probably got friends on that gosh awful Facebook website who’re clamouring to go back to normal. They want the certainty of a steady paycheque, the regular services, and plentiful entertainment options that Regina offers in a typical year. (You know how the easily bored are always saying there’s so much to do in Regina?)
Every one of them who argues to re-open Saskatchewan on the same day we have our single biggest outbreak increase, is a GD partisan/idiot. They might be bigger idiots than Scott Moe is, because they believe what a GD moron like the Premier is telling them to think.
Sask. COVID-19 update:
34 new confirmed cases, the provincial total now 467.
29 of the new cases are in the Far North (La Loche and surrounding area), four of the new cases are in the North & one is in the Saskatoon area.
They want to play Russian Roulette with themselves and their friends and family, and get out there to destroy the benefits of #SocialDistancing that made Saskatchewan ahead of the curve for once. It’s only a 3% chance that someone infected will die, give or take a few percent on factors aside from age that we don’t even know with certainty yet. And there’s only about a 50% chance of getting infected if it sweeps across the province quickly enough. Maybe those odds look good to them, but remember, they’re GD idiots, and they aren’t thinking.
Wait a year, and you get a vaccine. Some gratification is delayed. We may have other options before the vaccine, but right now, you COVIDIOTS are putting my life at risk. There are better options to fix your economic worries.
This is a first draft, so if it sounds harsh, it probably is. This isn’t an attempt to get the idiots to change their minds. They can’t; not without their political string-pullers helping them, anyway.
The problem with this Facebook censorship/correction of disinformation is that they’re really bad at censoring. My blog has been blocked for years, and they’ve never responded to my appeal to find out why. I can share links to my blog only if they’re in a tweet, not a direct abandonedstuff.com or saskboy.wordpress.com link.
As Time notes, it’s well established that Facebook is responsible for spreading misinformation, and disinformation (intentional misinformation) throughout society, but if it’s also blocking websites like mine that attempt to share information debunking the problem. That exposes Facebook as a threat to the spread of reliable information. Social media may be your primary source of news, so you should each day wonder what it is literally not letting you see. Who is it steering you away from talking to? They aren’t blocking only some Nazis and some snake-oil salespeople.
Don’t you dare suggest that oil could be bad, the sensitive folks of Oxbow, SK might get up in arms. They’re having a tough time with work you see, the oil industry that once paid them handsomely to ruin their kid’s environment, now only ruins their kids’ environment without paying them for the privilege.
Here are some comments attacking the teachers who decided to use a green theme for their Christmas concert, and teach kids that some of their parents are deranged Boomers despite not being old enough.
Lanny MartindaleIt’s the whole system there brainwashing them to be little Gretas it a joke the whole system!
Warren DalzielMore brain washing, poor kids don’t even know the difference
Darlene TwietmeyerYou know that really is too bad it’s Christmas for Pete’s sake wow isn’t the whole idea of Christmas well it’s Santa and presents but it’s the whole Nativity thing and the reason for the season and all that
Aaron Folkerts: “I was disgusted my self . I heard about it but then I saw it. Keep your fucking commy political beliefs to yourself and just do what your paid to. Teach”
Jeff Cliff interviewed me for his Facebook Live stream on Sunday. We discussed Saskatchewan politics, media, blogging, censorship, and the Amazon Fires.
For instance, I can link to Facebook, but people trying to link here from Facebook are told my blog doesn’t meet Facebook’s “Community Standards”. If you can figure out why, that would be quite the feat.
Also noticed that http://www.abandonedstuff.com isn’t redirecting to this WordPress address right now, so I don’t know if that’s a permanent problem introduced by WordPress, or something else.
Let’s be honest: Edward Snowden (pictured), the man who made a calculated decision to risk everything he has in order to reveal the NSA’s secret spying program, did something heroic. You don’t have to believe Edward Snowden himself is a grand hero, or a larger-than-life figure. But if you are a journalist— someone who works constantly to shed light on the workings of the government, with the belief that news is good for the public— you have to acknowledge that Edward Snowden did something quite admirable. If you are astute and rational enough to understand that a massive government domestic spying operation is newsworthy, then you must also understand that the person who exposed it at great personal risk has done something brave and worthwhile. Without Snowden’s act, the public’s knowledge of what is being done to them in their own name would be much poorer.
Technology and civil liberty experts knew PRISM was a very real possibility. I knew, and wrote about it last August. The National Security Agency (NSA) (star bad guy org. in the Will Smith movie Enemy of the State) has been collecting domestic Americans’ phone and Internet records since at least 2007. This activity is a clear violation of the American Constitution, and was overseen by Bush II, Obama, Al Franken, and other high level leaders who’ve betrayed the trust of Americans and broken the law.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), who also serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee, told Bloomberg that the “[the] idea that a 29-year-old individual with so little experience” had access to the material Snowden did is “absolutely shocking.”
So what can you and I do? Give up Facebook and Skype? Don’t use a Verizon phone at either end of a conversation? Vote Republican? Vote Democrat? Vote Liberal? None of those options will protect you or enhance your life, so what can we do? The party system in the US, and Canada, is not protecting citizens from overbearing governments. The US surveillance state convinced supposed good-guys like Obama and Franken that the illegal spy scheme they inherited wasn’t worth exposing or even shutting down.
We first of all have to defend the people who leak evidence of crimes to responsible media like Glenn Greenwald who helped break this story into the international press.
Go read 2001/2002 debate over the Patriot Act – NOBODY thought it enabled mass, indiscriminate, bulk collection of all Americans' records.
People like Bradley Manning, and Ed Snowden are people who’ve done heroic things to uphold the highest laws of their country, while people more powerful than them try to use lesser laws to punish their actions. Continue reading →
